December 20

We got our math sheets that we did last week. In Writing we continued with our winter writing. We continued with our good copies and we had to use a pen to write with. We had a double periods with our buddies. We played board games with our buddies and some people brought their own board games to play with their buddies. In Art we continued with our tree art and we added a purple background. We outlined red trees with a pencil. Some of us had to start the tree art. Today is early dismissal. We did our blogpost by our selves.

December 13

Today we rehearsed our winter concert songs in the classroom.
In gym we played a Christmas game.
We had music and when we were with the group, we were great!  We practiced some Carols too, that we will be singing.
In French we worked on our script.  We got together with our partner to practice together.  We also worked on the song - Oh Brigitte.  We tried to see how far we could recite the script without help from our partner.
We got to put together our movie trailers for our Properties of Air experiments.
In writing we started editing our misspelled words.  If we were unsure of a word, we wrote it on the white board, then our friends could help us.

December 12

In problem solving, we got a new booklet of practice problems.  We tried to work a little bit ahead of Ms. Pattie so that we were getting the hand of this.
It is very cold today, so all our recesses were indoors.
In writing, everyone shared one paragraph of their winter writing.  We also talked about what our paragraphs should have in them.
In French we worked in our French dictionaries.  We also got our quizzes from last week back.  We area starting the 7th and 8th pages of our scripts.
In Theme we did our air experiments.  We used comic life to present our property of air.
We practiced our songs for the winter concert in class today.  We are getting pretty good, we need to focus on our actions and remembering to start to the left!  As a class we decided that we needed an extra practice on Listen to the Jingle.  So we did an extra run through.

December 9

In Gym we played full court basket ball.  It was the last day for Basket ball.  After gym we had a class conversation about respecting things in the room, just like we want our things to be respected.
Dimetry finished the mural today.  We had an opportunity to go watch him grout the mural.
We had a full hour music rehearsal.
We practiced our songs for the concert.  We are getting better.  We still have to work on not talking!  We also practiced moving on and off the stage in our line order.
In Theme we started a project for the properties of air.   We are in groups of four and we planned what we are going to do and who will bring what.

December 8

In math we continued proving 47x53.
We played basketball and played full court. We played in shifts, 6 on 6.
In Writing we worked on our winter writing paragraphs.
In French we had a vocabulary quiz.  We worked some more in our french dictionaries.
In Theme we watched some videos on properties of air.
Ms. Page came today and played a couple games with us.  Our problem was figuring out how many candy canes 12 elves needed if two elves needed 5.  We also played a game with a table buddy, it was called choosy.
In Music, Mr. Bychuk had some puzzle pages for us.  We listened and practiced our concert songs while we worked.

December 7

Today we had math, we expanded some numbers and multiplied.  We used 47x53 as our base equation.  The answer is 2491.
In Music we were practicing for the winter concert again.  We are sounding better every time we have a practice.
We had library today.  We got to check out books.
In French we worked on our french dictionary.  We used our scripts to help us figure words out.
In writing we continued working on our winter writing.  Most were working on their conclusion.  Some need to catch up still.
We had another session with Dimitry today.  The mosaic will be finished tomorrow.
In theme we made a water cycle wheel.  We coloured and cut them out.  Some people need to finish.

December 6

In gym, we played basket ball as a class, we took shifts of 5 and used the whole gym.
We worked with Dimitry on our Mosaic.  We were filling in sections of the paper with the tile pieces. It is coming along really well.  We are getting close to the end.
Our recesses have been indoors today due to the weather.
In music we had a double class.  We practiced our songs for the winter concert.
We had lunch in our classroom and watched a movie.
In writing, we continued working on our winter writing.  We are up to 4 paragraphs now.  We also looked at writing techniques and checking to see if we used them in our writing.
It is early dismissal today.

December 5

In math we are playing with numbers.  Taking what we know about multiplying and shaking it up a bit.
In gym we played hot seat.  This is a basketball shooting game.  If someone misses they have to stand in a hula hoop.  If the next person misses they take the spot in the hula hoop.
We had a practice for the winter concert.  There are three classes together for our concert. We worked on the song beautiful winter.
In French, we worked on our scripts in groups of three.  We divided the parts up to practice.
In Writing we worked on our winter writing.  We need to have at least two paragraphs done.  Our great introduction and then a paragraph about one activity we like to do.  If we haven't finished we need to take them home to work on.
In Theme we watched a Magic School Bus episode on the Water Cycle.  Then we had to write about what we remembered.  Remembering the order of the steps and using the correct vocabulary.

December 2

In problem solving, we got a new sheet of problems to work on.
Ms. Page came today.  We played a game called Beat the Clock with a partner. She also had a guess the number game.  The number was between 1 and 1000.  She would only answer yes or no.  We had to ask different questions each time.
In French we worked on our scripts in our table groups. We also practiced Oh Brigitte.
We switched desks today.  Ms. Pattie put the new arrangement on the smart board and everyone had to find their own spot.
In theme we continued working on our maps of the explorer's routes.  We marked the vikings, the English and the French explorers.  We also completed a fill in the blank sheet.  After recess we went over them together to make sure we had the right answers.
We had handwriting today.

December 1

In gym, we are learning chest and bounce passing techniques for basketball.  We also played.
In writing we looked at some opening paragraphs, then we discussed what was needed for our next piece of writing.  We started working on our hook.  We will be writing about our favourite winter activities.
In Music we learned a new song for the winter concert - Beautiful Winter.  We are also learning the actions.
In theme we made a poster about one of the explorers and then shared it with the class.   We started shading a map that will be used to mark explorer routes.
We have started using bins to store our things.  This will help keep track of our belongings and ease congestion at the coat area.  We didn't have enough bins for everyone, hopefully the rest will get theirs soon.

November 30

In math we continued working on our practice sheet, some finished and did extra.  We missed part of our math class discussing yesterday, therefor we had to make up time at recess.
In gym we played basketball.  The girls played against girls, and boys played against boys.  We also learned about no-press.  We played in shifts as well.
In writing we did some brainstorming about winter activities.  We also wrote down some sense phrases - what does winter look, sound, taste, feel, smell like.
In French we finished putting the definitions into our French dictionaries.
We had a period of silent reading.
Ms. Page came again and we worked on some math problems with a buddy.  We used our white boards and markers.  When we finished, we played a game called Hex.  Hex is similar to Tic-Tac-Toe, but bigger.
In music we were assigned our spots for the Winter Concert.  We also practiced walking on and off the stage.

November 28

This morning we had a substitute teacher, Ms M.  She played 7-up and 4 corners with us.
In gym we played girls vs girls, and boys vs boys, basketball.  We also learned some new skills such as reach in to get the ball legally.
We had class meeting this morning with the substitute.
This morning, we met with Demitry.  We are starting a mosaic, it will be about the seven teachings.
We had indoor recess at lunch.  We were in the mini gym.  We got to go outside at the end of it.
In Theme we watched a video, about Europeans who discovered Canada.
Mrs. Page came to day to do some problem solving with us.

November 24

Today and tomorrow are student led conferences.  The book fair is open too!  We got to take a look around this morning.
We started working on a new strategy in problem solving.
The patrols had jungle gym today.
We spent the day finishing up the things we needed for conferences.  We also cleaned out our desks - so are parents aren't shocked!
We had French this afternoon.  We worked on our scripts, we started the next page and got the QR codes for it too.
We also did a reading response from our book club book.

November 23

We had a fire drill and a lockdown drill today.  There were four fire trucks at our fire drill.  It was right before lunch.
We had reading buddies today.  We read with a new buddy today.
We had jungle gym today.  There was a new sport station.  It was basketball.
We learned a new song and moves in music.
In theme we worked on our 5 jobs we had to finish up.  We are getting ready for conferences.
Conferences are Thursday night and Friday morning.

November 22

We have a new student in our classroom today.
Today was our first day with snow.  We reviewed the rules about playing outside in the snow.
In Math we used our white boards.  We are working on multiplying large numbers.
In Gym we played basket ball.  Mr. McKenzie split us into girls and boys and we played on opposite sides of the gym.
We continued working on comparing and contrasting our island nation to an Aboriginal group of Canada.  We have to use two methods to show our learning.  These methods come from our areas of Smarts.
We have started putting things into our portfolios for Parent Conferences.
In Music we learned a new song.
There will be jungle gym later this week.
Conferences are coming up later this week too.  There will be no school on Friday because of them.

November 18

In gym today we had a work out and then we played Five and Five Conspiracy .
We had a class meeting today.  In class meeting we read a book about being excluded.
We continued writing our beginnings to stories, using each of the 6 types of hooks we have learned about.  Some of us get an opportunity to record ourselves talking about our island maps. If we finished both we got to do some free writing.
In Theme we made totem poles.  We picked three teachings and then drew the animal on our paper. We then wrapped them around the paper towel rolls that we brought in.
We revised our blog post from yesterday to submit to the newsletter.

November 17th

Today we went on our field trip to Fort Whyte.  It was great.  In the morning we learned about the weather.  Once we reviewed some vocabulary, we went outside and used some weather instruments to take weather readings.  We made a cloud in a pop bottle using warm water and smoke.  We also made a storm in a tub.  Using warm red water and a blue ice cube.  We learned about the causes of greenhouse warming and some things we can do to slow it down.
In the afternoon, we switched to the Voyageurs and the hivernauts.  We pretended to follow our trap line and then rolled a dice to see what furs we collected.  Then we went to the Factor and traded for goods we would need for the winter.  When we were finished we were able to handle some furs and items they traded for. Then we cooked and ate Bannock over a fire.
We really enjoyed the touch museum.  Petting all of the animals.  
Some of us were lucky enough to spot some deer while we were out.

November 16

In problem solving we started looking at a new strategy for solving problems.  We started by solving the problems together, then we would start the problem and Ms. Pattie would show how we should have set it up and we could check our answers.
In writing, we looked at the books in our desk and wrote on a sticky note, what kind of hook each of them started with.  We also had to include the title of each.  Then we placed the sticky notes on charts around the room.
In french we added words to our personal dictionary, now we have to figure out what they are.  We also worked with a partner to practice our script.
In theme we made some corrections to the edited copies of our island writing.  We then worked on comparing an Aboriginal group to the society starting on our islands.
After recess we worked on writing a story, but we had to do six different versions - each starting with a different hook.
Tomorrow is our field trip.

November 15

We missed gym today due to a miscommunication.  We had math instead - yippie!  We worked on a new multiplication strategy on our white boards.
Today we had buddies.  We read with someone new today.
In Music we worked on our songs for the winter concert.
It was Pizza fun lunch today.
In theme we were learning more about the seven teachings.  We read a book and looked at a poster, then we had to write down what we thought in our own words.  We also had to note how we can show each teaching.
It is early dismissal today.

November 14

In Math we played a game.  It was called Mammoth Multiplication.  In the game we spin a spinner to show the size of the number, we draw cards plus one to be the multiplier.  Then we multiply.  We used our white boards to do the work on.
In gym, we had a substitute teacher.  We played capture the bean bag.
In writing we did two say somethings and a written response for our book club books.
In French we started page three of our script -Oh Brigitte.  We got the QR codes to help us at home.
We played Kahoot today.  We were in groups of three.  The questions were about weather and the voyageurs.  We had to try to answer the questions as fast as we could.  This is in preparation for our field trip on Thursday.
In Music we started learning songs for the winter concert.

November 9

We had outdoor gym today.  We had choices of gym equipment to play with.  Some of us went on the play structure.  We had a class meeting today.
Today we had an assembly for Remembrance Day, some of us were in the choir.  We wrote out what we could do to be a peacekeeper, we put the sheets up on the walls of the gym.
We worked on our play in French.
In theme, we had a little bit of time to finish our machines then we presented them.
We did another page in our handwriting books.
Yesterday we finished our read-aloud.  We will start a new one today.

November 8

In math, we learned a new game.  We use a spinner and it gives us a number.  That's the number of cards that we have to draw.  Then we draw another card and that is what we multiply the number by.
In gym we worked on meeting our target heart zone.
Rachelle Scott came in this morning to talk about the seven teachings.  She taught us about love today. She also used her drum and sang a song about the Eagle, which represents love.
In theme we worked on our complex machine projects.  We present them tomorrow.  We will have to identify the simple machines.  We will also have to identify how we would build it  differently on our islands.
We met with our book club groups and did two say somethings.  Then we did a written response.

November 7

Just a reminder that our Field Trip is next week - Permission forms and Fee is due by Wednesday!

We started the day with problem solving, we had new problems today.
In writing, we continued and some finished their poppy writing for Remembrance Day.
In French, we started the second half of page one.  We are learning the gestures as well as the words.
In theme we started working on our complex machine designs.
We had a fire drill - In November!
In writing, we each got a list of everyone's names and we had to write something nice about everyone.

There is no school on Thursday and Friday this week.  Thursday because teachers are writing report cards and Friday because it is Remembrance Day.

November 4

We had gym today.  We were exercising to get to our maximum heart rate.  We also played conspiracy again.  We worked on some poppy writing for Remembrance Day.  We also looked at some books in our class library about life during War times.  There was a choir rehearsal for those who joined choir.  During music, those not in choir read, while the choir rehearsed.  Mrs. Heuging stopped by for a visit this afternoon.  In Theme we watched everyone's videos about the Aboriginal group that they researched.

November 3

In math we finished our sheets on multiplication using a Carrol diagram.  We're getting pretty good at it.  We just need to remember to be careful when we are adding the numbers!  In gym we played conspiracy.  We started a new unit - we are working on fitness now.  In french we were tested on how well we knew the first six lines of the play.  After we had done our test, we worked on our vocabulary word searches.  In writing, we worked on our piece about the three days on our island.  We have handed them in now.  Hopefully everyone has edited carefully.  It's Ms. Pattie's turn to edit, but she shouldn't find anything left to fix.  In theme we continued planning our projects and compiled our list of materials.  We will begin building on Monday.  In music we continued working on our new song. At the end of the class we played the drum game.

November 2

In math we completed a  multiplication sheet.  We also started a sheet of long multiplication using arrays.  We are moving away from drawing out the question and starting to just use numbers.  In Music we got a little booklet with a song, it was called Israel.  We had to figure out the notes, then we played it.  We had library today.  Starting today, Garfield and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books are fun books, and they are to be read at home.  In French we continued working on our lines.  Tomorrow we will get a chance to show what we can do on our own.  In Theme we finished the first part of our First People's project.  Now we have started designing machines for our islands.  We are using the principle of Rube Goldburg machines.

November 1

In Gym today we played Dr. Dodgeball.  There was a substitute.  In Writing we did a written response to our book club book.  We also worked on revising our piece about the first three days on our islands.  We are having a friend edit our piece to find as many mistakes as possible. In French we continued practicing the first six lines of the play.  We also watched a song and started singing the parts we knew. In Theme we started working on our presentations.
Today is Early Dismissal.

October 28

Today was Beach Day for our Mission to Mexico.  Our class raised $111.25 Way to go.
In problem solving we got a sheet with our problems on them.  If we finished all of those, we could get the problems for the next level.  In writing we were working on our first few days on our island.  We should all be finished our rough drafts and be working on revision and editing.  On Monday, we will have classmates edit our work.  In French we worked on the first 6 lines of the play.  We also started putting together our partner clocks.  In theme we continued working in our groups.  We should be ready to start putting the presentation together next week.

October 27

We had math instead of gym today.   In Math we learned a slightly different way to make an array for multiplication.  We were working on our white boards today.  We had reading buddies today.  We got paired up with a grade one and we read three books to them. Some of our Buddies had Halloween books.  We had writing, and we continue working on the jobs for the first few days on our island.
We had a substitute in music.  We played our song we learned yesterday.  At the end of class we played a game called "Rhythm Master".  This afternoon we did art.  We painted the background first.  We drew leaves onto the paper and then we painted around them in black - it's called negative painting.  Tomorrow is Beach day as part of our Mission to Mexico.

October 26

In Gym we played Ghost in the Graveyard.  This involves mats standing up like gravestones.  Mr. Mackenzie turns off the lights and there are 2 people with flashlights who hunt for us.  This is our favourite Halloween game.  In Math we continued with our Multiplication using Arrays sheets.
In Writing we continued to write the story of what we will do when we land on our islands. In French we started working on our play "Un Jour Bizzarre".  Our first job is to learn the first 6 lines of the script.  Including the gestures.  Ms Pattie gave us a QR code so we can scan and watch the lines at home.  In Theme we continued working on our presentations for our First Nations group to present to the class.  Some of us have started our good copies of our illustrations.  We'll be ready to take pictures of them and record our message for our presentation.  In Music we played on the instruments again.  We learned a new song.  Tomorrow is our day to dress like a Rock Star - in support of Mission to Mexico.  Everyone should bring Toonies.

October 25

Today's spirit week theme was dress like a nerd - focus on math and science for Mexico.  We had a substitute this morning. It was Ms K.  In Math we continued working on arrays for longer multiplication.  We had sheets to work on today.  In Music we played on the instruments.  We learned a new song: E is for Evening. We had library today, we were able to take out three books.  In French, Ms K quizzed us on the gestures for French words.  We also played our number game.
In Theme we are starting to work on Aboriginal information.  We are planning what we will do on the ipads.  In handwriting, we worked on the lower case alphabet.  Tomorrow for spirit week we should wear Red, White and Green; the colours of Mexico's flag.  We have almost raised $25 for school supplies for Mexico.

October 24

We were lucky to have Mr. Chestnut in today to demonstrate and teach some juggling.  We started learning with just two balls. Our recess was delayed so we got to stay out a bit longer.   In writing, we did another written response to our book club books.  In French we started a new unit.  We will be working on a French play.  We learned some new words that we picked up quickly.  The words had gestures to help us remember them. We got our class ipads today.  We played a game called Kahoot.  We had to work in groups of three to figure out the correct answers.  We played a version for Halloween and a quiz on Simple Machines.  We used our ipads to help our research on First Peoples of Canada.

October 19

In Gym we were doing some skipping.  We worked on jumping in one spot.  We played turtle tag too.  We also started yellow card games. We read with our grade one buddies for the first time today.  Some of our buddies are already really good readers.  In writing we started a web about jobs on our island.  We turned the web into a piece of writing about all the jobs that would need to be done on our island when we first land.  In Music, we learned a song on the instruments.  We also did something called switch.  When Mr Bychuk called switch, everyone had to move to the next instrument.  We also sang Happy Birthday to one of our classmates.  Those people in intramurals, had their first ball hockey game today.  Mrs. Danyluk came and talked to us about being friends and not teasing if both sides don't find it funny.

October 17

In math we had four multiplication problems to solve with arrays.  We had to fit the arrays into the space of half a page - or smaller.  We had library today.  Most of us got to take out three books.
In Music we did more body rhythms.  In French we took turns reading the story of Luc's test.  We finished working on the contents of our Sac a Dos.  We saw Mrs. Marlatt in the hallway today.  She is here to do vision screening.  In Theme we talked about rights and responsibilities of being a citizen of Canada.  We then had to come up with rights, responsibilities and consequences for our islands.  In writing we heard two more stories and looked at what the authors did.  At the end of the day, Ms. Pattie will read to us.  We are reading Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate.  Tomorrow is early dismissal.

Reminder to all students to keep on track with their homework.  Some are starting to fall behind.  This will result in staying in to catch up!

October 13

In math we continued with long multiplication - using an array.  We played soccer in gym today.
In Writing we started a cursive writing book.  We had to copy the alphabet four times, if we don't do a good job, we will have to redo.  We worked on capital letters, it took two lines for the whole alphabet. In French we started talking about school equipment.  We are getting closer to the end of the mystery. Some of us had our first intermediate choir practice.  We learned a new song in 7 minutes - Unsung Heros.  In Theme we started learning about Aboriginal Peoples of Canada.  We listened to three different creation stories, from different groups; we had to draw a picture to represent each story.  We also listened to a scientific theory of people settling in Canada.

October 11

Mr. Mackenzie is back, his ankle still hurts.  We did some track and field activities.  In writing, we used description to write about a meal we ate this weekend.  We had writing earlier in the day than usual. In French we continued working on our mystery.  We had to glue nine rooms and four people into our books.  We are getting close to the end of the mysteries.  In music we did more Tom Tom Greedy Guts.  At the end of the class we also played composer scramble.  In Theme we watched some videos about levers and pulleys.  The videos showed us how simple machines make jobs easier or quicker.  We read a book called Piggie Pie.  We then had to name some techniques the author used to make it a good book.

October 7

In Math we looked at a couple of problems and had to explain how we solved it.  We were focusing on finding different ways to solve the same problem.
In Gym we played Kings Court.  If you get hit with a ball, you go to the other team's jail.  If your team throws you a ball and you can hit someone from the other team, then you get to go back to your team.  If, while you are throwing the ball, you hit someone in the head, you have to go to the jail.
In Writing we did a written response on a selection from our book club books.  We had to write a sample piece of text from our book, and we have to respond to our connection with that piece of text.  We have also started recording the books we are reading.
In Theme we started learning about simple machines.  We talked about the lever today.
We went to the science room and Mrs. Badger came in and did a 6C project with us called Maker Station.  We got to make things out of recycled materials. Mrs. Badger read us a story about Iggy Peck Architect.  Iggy really liked to build things, but he wasn't appreciated until he saved the day.
In Music we played composer scramble.  We each had our own square and when Mr. Bychuk called out a composer and everyone standing on that composer had to move to a new spot.  It's a lot like Musical Chairs.

October 6

In math we used base ten blocks to do multiplication.  We had music today.  We learned  "3,5,7,9". This is doing a pattern with out bodies.  Clap, chest, knees, thighs and stomp our feet.  
We had library today. We had an extra gym class, there were extra classes in the gym because teachers were gone to Cross-Country.  In theme we wrote four conclusions about the climate of our islands (based on our graphs).  In Writing, we read a picture book and then we talked about what the girl in the story could use to help write a better story.  These are ideas we can use too.

October 5

In Gym we played a game called Rabbits and Wolves.  In Book Clubs, we did Say Somethings with our groups.  We sat with Ms Pattie so she could guide us through our first one.  We had our class meeting today.  In French, we played Tic Tac Toe with school rooms.  If we said it wrong, the other player got the square. We had a bit of indoor recess due to the rain today.  In theme we graphed the temperature and precipitation for our islands.  We also discussed factors that affect weather in places.  Things like bodies of water and proximity to the Equator.

October 4

We played a math game of 'I Spy'  using cards in an array.  We played in our table groups.  In Gym we had a substitute and played bench ball.  The winning team would lose a player to the other team.
Today was picture day.  We had individual pictures and a class picture.  We chose books for our book clubs.  There were only 5 copies of each book, so some didn't get their first choice this time.  We also got a chance to start reading our books.  In French we started a new mystery.  In theme we continued our graph of Winnipeg Temperature and we graphed Winnipeg Precipitation.  We also finished our set of maps.  We finished the legend on each and now we just have to neatly colour them.
Today is early dismissal.

October 3

We had problem solving this morning.  They are colour coded from easiest to hardest.  We had to find the problem that was the best fit for us.  If a problem was too easy, next time we had to choose a harder problem.   We did A Say Something today.  A Say Something is sharing our connections to what someone else has said.  We had another fire drill today.  In French we wrote out our own cart d'identite.  In Theme we re-found our islands and made sure we had the correct co-ordinates.  This will help us when we need to figure out the climate of our island.  We started talking about and graphing Winnipeg's weather.  This will help us compare our Climate to the island's.  We continued into a third period of theme.

September 30

In Gym, we had Jungle Gym.  It was the last one until November!  In theme we worked on colouring maps for physical regions, climate and vegetation.  We had time to practice writing a book review.  Our first one has been assigned.  In Music, we had Mrs. Kroeker as our substitute.  We played concentration and Stella Stella Ola.  Today we had Free-Time Friday.  A chance to finish up assignments we didn't finish this week, or some free time.

September 29

We started off with a Math sheet.  We had to figure out what stays hot even though you put it in a refrigerator.   Some people got to play an I Spy Math game.  In Gym we had our first Jungle Gym.  We had a new station called Mini Hockey.  In Writing we talked about how to do a proper Book Review.  During Theme time we worked on our Island maps and scripts.   We talked about what the weather would be like and what kind of animals live on the island.  We had two fire drills today, one in the morning and one in the afternoon  (and they scared us because they're so loud!).  In the last period we had a substitute teacher.

September 28

We had a substitute teacher this morning.  We got our scholastic book order forms for next month.  In math we worked on a sheet, we had to find the products that were wrong and correct them.  In music we played a game of Bingo and Cookie Jar.  There was a substitute in Music too.  We had library today.  Most of us got to take out three books.  We pick two IPick books first.  Our third book can be a fun book if we want.  Our librarian this year isn't Mrs. Conci. We started writing a speech about our island maps.  We talked about the weather and what the symbols were.  In french, we said when our birthdays were.  We also did a few more phone numbers.  We had a presentation about hearing aids from a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing.  We got a chance to try hearing aids and see how they sound.  The presenter showed us hearing aids.  We watched a video that showed the sign language alphabet.

September 27

Today was our Terry Fox assembly and Walk.  Four students from our class were Mr Mackenzie's helpers and helped lead the assembly.  The students who helped got a Terry Fox t-shirt.  This year we partnered up with the kindergarten class and helped them.  This was their first walk as a kindergarten class.  At the end of the walk, we could run a lap of the field to get a tattoo.  Gym today was outside.  We were on scooters and we had to move to a designated point. Then we walked with a bean bag on our head. Finally we had to run to the fence and back.  Mr Mackenzie appointed a Gold, Silver and Bronze for those who finished - girls and boys.  In French we finished our list of names and started reading out our phone numbers and recording them on our sheets.  Some of us need to look this information up!  We had our class meeting today.  We needed to thank someone for doing something for us, or we had to ask about changing something.  Something our classmates could help us with.  In Writing we wrote our first response to text - we wrote about hamburgers!  We had to write about our own connections.  What memory did we have of hamburgers.  Our story had to be longer than the text example.  We talked some more about book reviews today.  We listed everything that should be in a review.  Then as a class we wrote a review of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

September 26

Some of us played a game called Zoom in math today.  Others played Boom.  In gym we played 'water polo' on scooters.  Mr. Mackenzie told us that we will do some of the Olympic sports.  Water polo is one of them.  We had to sit on our scooters and move around and keep passing the ball. In French we worked on our new mystery.  We are learning to say our phone numbers.  In theme, most of us started the good copies of our island maps.  We needed to make sure it looked good, it is going on the bulletin board.  We also needed to make sure we included our legend.  We practiced listening and doing exactly what Ms. Pattie says to do.  In case there is a problem.  We put lables in the hallway for our shoes - to try and clean up the mess that happens after lunch.  In writing we looked at some book talks and book reviews.  We will be setting criteria for our own book reviews.  We also learned about writing our responses to the text.  Our connections we make while we read.

September 23

We had our first problem solving class today.  We did practice problems that got harder and harder as we went along.  One of the problems was really hard.  Using 10 cards, we have to order them so that when you flip them alternating, they come out in order.  In writing today, most of us finished our good copy of our letters to Ms Pattie.  These are now due and should be handed in.  We had to add and remove things during revision.  We also had to make sure that it was neatly printed.
We had our first substitute for part of the morning, before lunch.  We continued working on the rough copies of our island maps.  On Monday we will start our good copies.  In French, we started a new mystery.  In this mystery the class' identity cards get shredded.  Luc Têtu, dropped his card, Hugo tried to tell him, but he wasn't listening.  He had to provide all his information to the computerized door.  We are having our second fire drill today - sometime before the end of the day.

September 22

We worked on our letters to Ms. Pattie again today.  We learned about hooking our reader and the types of hooks.  We did more revising on our letters.  While we were writing we were so quiet, that the quiet critters came out to visit.  We had our first fire drill today.  It was really, really loud.  In gym we played a new game.  In theme we chose the locations of our islands.  We started working on our maps.  We have to list the things on our island, in a legend; so we can identify what is where.  In music we played the instruments again.  We also played the drum game.

September 21

In music we put on a concert for some grade ones.  We practiced the whole period before they came. In math we used dice to practice math facts, we broke into two groups to play.  Whoever caught the die, had to answer the question under their right thumb.  In writing we worked on revising our letters to Ms Pattie.  Next we start editing.  In Theme we are almost finished our lists of items we are taking to our islands.  We are working on our good copies.  We had to remember that the total had to be less than our own weight.  In gym we played murder ball.  I found out who Detective X was in french class it was - Luc Têtu.  Our final clue was listening to his name and the sounds that the L and the T made.

September 20

Today we had our first library period.  We talked about converting units of measurement.  We made a chart to help us remember.  We learned that "King Henry Does Usually Drink Chocolate Milk" - this can help us remember the order of the prefixes.  In french we have narrowed the choice down to two students, we almost know who Detective X is.  Maybe we'll find out tomorrow!  In theme we did more measuring and estimating about the contents of our sea chest.  Tomorrow we will finalize our lists and hand them in.  Today is early dismissal.

September 19

Today in gym we played benchball.  We got to play 5 rounds.  In writing, we are writing Miss Pattie a letter.  We are telling her what we are hoping for this year and what we might be worried about.  We had our first class meeting today.  We talked about thanking people who help us.  We also talked about things we might want to change, or need help changing.  Then we get some possible solutions for those issues. In French we talked more about Detective X and we learned where the kids in Detective X's class all come from around Canada.  In Theme we talked more about what we need to take to our island community.  We talked about what things we will need after basic survival.  We were reminded about the metric system and how it is based on a 10 system, just like our number system.  At bus Ridership - Bus Driver Bob gave each of us a bracelet.

September 16

Today, we played a game in gym, it was called murder ball.  Miss Pattie rearranged the seats today.  We got to choose our seats originally, now Miss Pattie has put us where we might work a little better and quieter.  We looked at a multiplication chart to discover which facts we already know.  Now we know which ones to focus on.  In French we worked on our alphabet.  We also learned the words for 'where is?" and "here is".  We used these phrases to put the alphabet together.  We got to read quite a bit today.  In Theme we continued to plan what we would bring to our deserted island.  We have to estimate how long things are and what their weight might be.  The whole box will have to weigh less than us.  In Writing we learned about ARMS and COPS to help us when we revise and edit.  ARMS stands for Add, Remove, Move or Substitute.  COPS stands for Capitals, Order, Punctuation, and Spelling.

September 15

Today we wrote about the steps for problem solving.  We also did a practice problem.  We did a lot of writing and copying from the board.  Some of us got to do lots of reading. In french we introduced ourselves and then spelled out our name, using the French alphabet.  We finished our multiple intelligence discussion, by thinking of what intelligence would work with different jobs.  We finished our "Where my shoes were this summer".  We started our island project; what do we think we would take with us to discover our island.  We had to remember that it has to fit in our sea chest.  What do you think you would bring? We played a math game called Boom to end our day.

Today we started our writer's notebook.  We did a drawing/writing activity about where our shoes were this summer.  In gym we played a tag game.  We also did a survey about what our 'smarts' were - what learning style suited us best.  We then thought about what we can help the class with and we posted in on our community brain.  We had music, we played on the instruments.

We had our first gym class today.  We talked about home and house rules and why we have them.  This lead us to the values behind them.  In music we played cookie jar.  We wrote in our math journals today. We wrote about Rumpelstiltskin and his multiplying stick; a story Ms Pattie read to us.  Today in french we practiced our sentences from yesterday.  We greeted each other and asked for names. We learned the word for School Bus in French.  We had a pretend school bus and we greeted each other as we boarded and exited the bus.

September 12

We did work today!  We did some art today.  We traced our hand and used it for art.  We played a math game - Scoot, to review our math facts.  It was fun, we had to move around to different spots and find all the math questions.  Sometimes you got to a spot and you had already solved that one or there was no fact there.   In french class we started to solve a mystery - La cas du Detective X.  We had our first music class.  We read a lot - silent reading.  We talked about Read to Self.  We were supposed to have Library today, but the librarian wasn't there so we have to wait.

September 9

It is our first day back to school.  A brand new crop of grade 5s.  This morning we had a scavenger hunt.  Pirate Pete had stolen our Pencils and erasers.  We had to figure out the clue to unlock the locks and open the box.  It was fun getting to know everybody.  While we solved our scavenger hunt we got to move around the room and learn where things were.  As a class we made a chart that shows our jobs and Miss Pattie's jobs.  This will remind us how to have a great year.  We took pictures hanging from the monkey bars - just as if we were hanging from a bunch of balloons and floating away.  We made pennants about us to hang in the classroom.  

May 30

Ok, so, today felt long and busy. The first thing we had was music. For music, we practiced the song we are performing for the parents who volunteered this year. We are performing a song called sailing! Then after music, we had buddies. We practically did the same thing as always. Anyways! After recess, we had a period of writing, and a period of health. I'm not quite sure what we did in writing, but in health, we talked about bullying and watched some videos on it. After lunch we had theme. We started to finish our ABC books due Friday. Then after last recess, we had bus ridership. Now we are silent reading at our desks. Thanks for reading! Bye!

Before we start, math calendars and book reviews are due next Wed.
First off, we had math. What we did was play a game where we had to role a double die. The small one in the middle equaled a thousandth and the big die equaled a hundredth. Then we used our 1 whole sheet as the board. Who ever gets to the top first wins! Before gym, we couldn't stop talking before lining up so we had to crouch down before Mr.Mackenzie got here. We played "Murder Ball". It was basically dodgeball but if there are only 5 people left, whoever catches a ball gets the whole team back! after a cloudy recess, we had French. Today was the day everybody in the class dreaded, the Acadian quiz!!!
We had to practice our play after that. After lunch [which was really messy] we had theme. We had to finish our alphabet book. After recess we started reading.

May 24

Hello! How has your day been? Anyway, today we started the day off with problem solving! Miss Pattie removed the hardest ones (the pink ones) today because we had LOTS of trouble with them last time. After recess, we had French. We got together with the people who had the same part as us in our play so we could practice and memorize our part in the play. After lunch, we had Theme (as always). We went over the booklets that Miss Pattie handed out to us last class. We also filled in the blank parts that we had. Then, after recess, we did agendas, as usual. We just had a tornado DRILL

Hello fellow readers. Our class had an AWESOME day. First thing in the morning we went into groups some people went on Reflex, some worked on the mural and other people did their quilt square. See it's already awesome, next period we worked on our new project a poem about being grade fives. After recess we had library, not to brag but we picked out some awesome books, oh and we made permanent seats. Also we had music we played a lot of games, it was so fun. In theme we learned about Rep by Pop, meaning representation by population. Now we have reading and agendas but the next period is.....GYM YAY!!!! We are playing baseball and I'm pretty excited I don't know about the rest of the class but I hope we have fun. Well I'm done the blog, I guess I'll see you next time.

This morning we had math and writing. In writing we shared our ABC books we made. Then we had recess. After recess we had library, we picked out new books. Then we went off to music. In music we played different instruments and had fun! After lunch we had French. After recess Miss Pattie read a book to us, then last period we had gym. It was an awesome day!

May 11

Today we did a drawing activity in health and it was about how we look at stuff differently.  In the first period, we went to music and we went to the instruments to play a song. After music we quickly went to our reading buddies. After recess we had writing and we were supposed to finish our projects (but some of us didn't.) After lunch we had theme and we learned a little more about the Metis. We were supposed to do our paragraphs for our ABC book (but again we didn't.) After recess we kept going with our ABC books and now Miss Pattie is reading.

May 9

Today was awesome!! We solved math sequences. After math we had gym, we played bowling and we had fun. After recess we did our alphabet book. After lunch we did book club project and after recess Ms. Pattie taught us about Canada's History.

May 6

Today was a good day! We had three periods of writing and music today. We improved a little bit as well and we watched a video about the history of Canada and how the British and the French fought for it. The British won and the French lost.

May 5

Today was a VERY hot day! First we had problem solving, we were making a schedule for Mr Makenzie and Mr Bychuk. Then we had french, we practiced "Oh Brigitte".  Theme lets see.... I got it! we watched a film about the American Revolution. We are going to have gym. Bye.

Today was great. We started it off with math then writing our A to Z theme booklets. After recess we had library then music.  In music we practiced our song then we played a fun game where one student used a drum to guide another student (who is blindfolded) thru all the other students. If the student that is blindfolded touches any of the other students she loses. The person walked into me! So the trees (all the students, other then the one blindfolded and the one with the drum) won. Because of me! Anyway then we lunch after we watched a video in theme class. Now we are reading after this we will go to gym. Thats all from me bye!

Today was a great day. We started off with a wonderful music class. In music, we played a song on the instruments and the drums. But sadly, I can not tell you the song because I forgot the name of the song. But we still had a great buddies period. In buddies, we did what we normally do, and that is, first they read to us and then we read to them. After that we had an awesome recess because that's what pretty much every kid likes the most about school. And after recess we had writing. During writing class, we were working on our book club projects. The next period we had was health. In health, we were talking about listening to other people when they are speaking, which everyone should listen when some else is talking. After that we ate our lunch. After the tasty lunch, we watched a video about the English, the French and the Acadian people. After recess we did our agendas, we had a lock down drill and after those two things, we read our books. And that was our day, I hope you enjoyed the blog post.

Today we had a fire drill we had not had one in a while. We started the day off with math, and then we had gym. After recess we had two periods of french. After lunch we had our last drumming class with Chris. After recess we worked on our A,B,C Theme work. And now we are reading.

Hello welcome back to our blog. Today we started of with math and in math we did a 'I can' sheet and we wrote things we can now do in math that we could not do before. Up came gym with a game of dodgeball then came recess. After recess was french; in french we worked on the play 'Un Jour Bizarre' then we had lunch. Then we had theme and we worked on a schedule for next years gym and music. The period after afternoon recess was theme we worked on our ABC books but grade 5 level. Thanks for reading todays blog.

Today we started new projects. We started the day off with music, then we had writing. In writing we started new projects. The projects were based on history - the Acadians, the Metis, The War of 1812 and others. After recess we had writing and were still working on the projects. After lunch we worked on another project. Our book club projects. Two of them are: Draw a scene and a Quiz. After recess we had class meeting and thats up to now.

April 27

Today was a great day. We started off with Problem Solving. In Problem Solving we did Logical Reasoning problems, which we did last week. After recess, we had french. In french we played "Oh Brigitte" a few times. We also practiced our "Un Jour Bizzare" with our groups. After french we had lunch, which was very good. After lunch we had Theme. In Theme we did a work sheet. Then we had recess, and got to go out early. Now we hope Miss Pattie is going to read "The Devil's Arithmetic". Then we're going to have Gym, and head home.

April 26

Today was a busy day! The First period we did HARD math! We did Adding and subtracting. The next period was writing. After a FUN recess, we had LIBRARY! We read our books there. Then we had Musical Music ( Music ). We tried new instruments, It was FUN! After  our yummy LUNCH, we had Theme. We did our body system booklet! After another FUN recess, we have reading. After the reading period, we have GYM!

April 25

Today we had music. In music today is we learned some new music for our recorder but it's a little hard for some of us. Next we had buddies and we read our Lake Winnipeg story and we asked them some questions if our buddy is listening. Then we had recess, after recess we had writing, we are working on our book club projects. Then we had health, we watched a video about stress. Then we had lunch, after lunch recess we had theme. In theme we found some bones in an owl pellet and it was kind of dirty. When we finished, we worked on a booklet about body systems. Then we had recess. After recess we were still working on our booklet for a little while then we are reading.

April 21

Hi! Today we did a lot! We had math first. In math, we did division. After math, we had gym, and in gym, we played VOLLEYBALL! Then, after recess it was theme. In theme, we had to present our posters and our models of our systems. Then it was lunch, and after lunch we went to the gym to go watch the divisional grade 5 choir sing. It was cool! Then after recess Ms. Pattie read to us, and now we are silent reading.

April 20

Hello! Well, we started the day off with Music! It was AWESOME! We play on the instruments. Then he gave us a chance to play a recorder song for a belt. After that, we had Theme.  Yes, yes, I know, It was early, but that was because of drumming, but I'll get on with that later. Anyways, for Theme we finished up our system projects. After recess, we had writing (or reading:)). We worked on our Book Club projects. When lunch was done, after recess of course, we did drumming with Chris Scholl. We played call continue, a passing the egg game, then we picked drums and played Drum Talk. After we had class meeting. If you don't know what class meeting is, we pass around Spike the porcupine, and first round around the carpet, we thank people. Today we finished our theme projects. We also checked our french quiz from last week!
In the first period we had problem solving and started to do logical reasoning. After problem solving, we had French. We did our french quiz, but we also went into groups to practice the script. After lunch we had theme. We worked on our Body System Projects until recess. Now we have reading and we don't have gym today because it is early dismissal!

April 18

Today we had math. After math we had writing and we worked on our book club projects. After recess we had library. We picked out good books! Before lunch we had music, we played on the xylophones. After lunch we had theme. We worked on our Body System Projects. Then we had recess. Now Miss Pattie is reading to us. Then we have gym! It was a good day!

April 15

Before we start, EVERYBODY! Bring the 3D books back! Now, where were we? Oh yeah! Today was day 2. That means we had music. Mr. Bychuk wasn't here so Miss Austin was here. We played the first 4 belts in recorder karate. After practicing, we played something called "Music Bingo". Miss Austin played a beat on a hand drum and we had to fill in the spot where the note of the beat was. After music, We had buddies. Ms Stewart asked us what we were going to do in the weekend. Then we read to our buddies. After recess, we had writing. We continued our homophone booklets. If we were done, we had to work on our book club projects. After lunch, [which was indoor recess] we had T.I.A. We played with drums. After recess, we continued our book club projects. Miss Pattie is now reading " The Devil's Arithmetic.

April 14

Today we started off by having math. In math we reviewed our division. After math we had gym. In gym we did volleyball again. After recess we had french. After lunch we had theme. In theme Miss Pattie put the class in groups because we were writing down stuff about our body systems. After recess we had theme again. Then we did our agendas and now Miss Pattie is reading a book to it's a book about about a girl who finds herself in another time.

Hello, you must be wondering what we did today!! We started with math, we corrected our techniques for determining area and perimeter. Next we had Gym. We worked on volleyball serves and bumps. Then we had french. We practiced "Un Jour Bizarre". We had theme and learned about the human body systems. Mrs Pattie is reading us a new book today! Bye!

Welcome people of the world, today we had a great day. We started off with a WONDERFUL music class!!! Then we had writing it was great. Then came recess, then we had writing again!!! In writing we learned about homophones like to, two, or too. Then we had a special guest come into the class to talk about the Medicine Wheel. Then we had a class meeting and now we are reading. Today in problem solving we learned a new strategy called logical reasoning. After recess we had french. We did a mini test about un jour bizarre. After lunch we had theme and we made a 3D shape book. Recess is now over and Miss Pattie is reading to us, then we will go to gym.

Today was a good day! In math we put division questions all around the classroom and we had to solve them. In writing we got our favourite book club books and worked on our book club projects. After recess we had library, we got some new books to read. In music we played different instruments and made music. After lunch we started making books about New France. It was fun! We have reading now and Ms Pattie is reading us Bearhaven. Next we have gym. Have a good weekend!

April 7

Today we started a new project. We started the day off with Music. We started a new song called Rainforest Song. We had people on a lot of instruments, including the Rain Stick. It was really fun, but really hard to concentrate because a lot of instruments were playing at once. After that we walked down the hall to Buddies. We read with our Buddies and helped them with their hardest book. After recess we had writing and talked about our new project. There's a lot of details, so I'm not going to write about it all. Then we had health. It was a substitute, and we started by reading a book about stress called "Stress Can Really Get On Your Nerves". Then we played a game called "20 Questions" which is a game about you thinking of something and the machine asks you a series of questions and says the answer. Usually it gets it right but we were able to get it to not know. After Lunch we had Theme and we watched a video and then read and did the crosswords we made a while ago until recess. Then, after recess, we got a graph paper and found 8 different ways we could make rectangles with 50 cm for perimeter.

April 6

The first thing we did at school was math. Then we had gym and we had recess. After recess we had french. We practiced the Oh Brigitte song and we practiced the scrip of Un Jour Bizarre. Then we had lunch. After lunch recess we had theme. We did a centimetre grid, what that was is that we try to make Pentominos. We can only use five blocks. After recess we finished are centimetre squares. Now we are reading the Bearhaven.

April 5

Today was filled with lots of work! For first period we had math. After math we had gym and in gym we played bench ball, and it was fun! After recess we had french. In french we did what we normally do, we practiced our play. Then, after lunch, we had theme, we did math type of stuff. Now Ms. Pattie is reading us Bearhaven. Then we have early dismissal!

Welcome back! I hope your spring break was cool. Anyway, the first thing we did today was go to music. When we got there, Mr. Bychuck taught us a new song on the recorder. It's called "The Rainforest Song". After music, we had writing... We went over what was in non-fiction books. Miss Pattie passed out some non-fiction books for us to look at. After recess, we had more writing. We did the exact same thing. After lunch, we had theme. What we did was we made a chart about our buildings and explained the 3D shapes. After making our chart, we made another chart about areas     and perimeters. After recess, we had our class meeting. Now Miss Pattie is reading "Bearhaven".

Hello everyone! I hope you had a great day today because I know I did. We worked on 3D geometric shapes for our three dimensional buildings. This morning we worked with decimals, reading and writing them as well as adding and subtracting.  Then we had writing, we worked on our poems and shared them with the class. After recess we had library, we picked out a lot of good books. In music we practiced songs on our recorders. Then it was lunch! Yay! After lunch we went to the gym because lots of us got all the check marks on our respectful recess rewards chart. After gym we worked on making our three dimensional buildings. After recess we did our agendas, and now Ms. Pattie is reading Bearhaven.

To start the day off we had music then writing. After recess we had writing again, then we had health then lunch. After lunch we had theme then recess then theme again then Ms Pattie read to us and that was our day.

Today we did some experiments! We made elephant toothpaste, mixed redbull and milk, made a lava lamp, made a lemon volcano, rusted steel wool and then mixed soda and mentos. The first thing we did this morning was math! We practiced our division and multiplication. After math we had gym. We did some fitness and played a dodgeball game. At third period, we had french and played the "Oh Brigitte" song and did some practice for "Un Jour Bizzare." After lunch we had theme and did the experiments. The soda and mentos experiment didn't really work as big as usual, but it still did the reaction. After recess we did some webs about the characters in the book called "Bearhaven." Now Miss Pattie is reading the book to us!

March 16

Today we had music, we played "Its Raining" on our recorders. Then we had writing. We went to the gym and looked at the Science Fair projects. After recess, we made Cinquain poems. They were fun! After lunch, we had theme. We drew Freaky Frog, it was a step by step drawing that we did as a class.  Now we are decorating paper bags and we are going to put 10 items about ourselves inside it. Parent-teacher conferences are tonight and tomorrow!

March 16

Today was a good day. We had started Guess and Check for problem solving. Then we had french. we practiced a short song called Oh Brigitte. We started an experiment. We put an whole egg in vinegar,
 we are going to examine and observe the egg every day. We are about to go to gym.

March 15

Today was good, we started with math. In math we drew buildings made out shapes. It was fun! After we did that, we had writing. In writing we edited our Lake Winnipeg pieces on the ipads, if we were not doing that we were reading our book club books. Then we had library. Then we had music; during music we practiced our recorders. Then we had lunch. After that we had theme. In theme we watched a video about matter. Then we put sticky notes on a chart that says "Changes in Matter". Then we had recess. After recess we did our agendas and Miss Pattie read a book. So that was our day.

March 14

Today we had a assembly it was about the Lake Winnipeg Foundation and Mrs Marlatt and Mr Bychuk talked about rain barrels and what they do to help Lake Winnipeg. After the assembly, we had a little bit of music and then we had buddies. After recess we had writing and in writing we did our final editing on our Lake Winnipeg stories. Then we had health and we talked about stress and we read a book and wrote 5 things that stress us the most. After lunch we had theme.  In theme we finished our matter projects. After recess we watched a videos about changes in matter. Now we are reading the Secrets of Bearhaven.

March 11

Today we started off with math. In math we played Scoot. Its a little hunting sheet game. Then we had gym. In gym we played a bean bag game it was fun. After recess we had a guest in our classroom. Then it was reading. In reading wa did three say somethings. Then it was theme. In theme we used dictionaries to look for characteristics matter. After lunch we had french. In french we did the script Oh Brigitte. After french and recess we had theme. In theme we did matter again. After theme we had agendas. After agendas Miss Pattie is reading Secrets of Bearhaven. March 10

Today for about the whole morning the Choir was at the Winnipeg Musical Festival! While the Choir was there, in period one and two the people not in Choir had gym. After recess we worked on our anthems of our islands, our Lake Winnipeg stories, our science project writing, and the I am a Winnipeger poem. At lunch the Choir kids returned. After lunch we had theme, in that we also worked on the I am a Winnipeger poem, the science project writing, the island anthems, and the Lake Winnipeg stories. And looked at the properties of two mystery powders. After recess we looked up things in the dictionary and found out the meanings of a lot of things.

March 9

Today was the best day of our life. We started of with our field trip to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra  ( WSO ). It was fun and very musically. After that we went back to school for lunch time and we ate our yummy food. After lunch recess, we had a special guest that came in our class room, she taught us about the seven sacred teachings. She also taught us how to play the drums and she taught us how to sing a Dakota welcoming song. After recess we had our class meeting, we talked about respect and not saying mean things to each other. And now we are reading " If ".

March 8

This morning we had double periods of problem solving. After recess we had double periods of french, in french we did the L'histoire de Brigitte. Then after lunch we had theme. We just had recess and now Miss. Pattie is reading us a book called BearHaven. Next we have GYM!!!! -.-

March 7

Today we started the day off with math. We went over our tangrams. Then we had writing. We started writing paragraphs about our projects in theme. Like our complex machine and our weather device. Then after recess, we had library. Lots of people forgot their books so, don't forget to bring those back! After we had music. We played a song on recorder and drums that was called 'Jamaican Money Man'. After lunch, we did some catching up. We caught up on work that we had to finish. We didn't do theme because there were too many people away. After recess we did our agendas. Now Miss Pattie is reading us a new book called 'Secrets of Bearhaven'. 

We are getting our report cards on Wednesday and conferences are coming up! YAY!

March 4

HELLO! We did a lot of fun things today, it was really fun for the basketball team. So first thing we did in the morning is we had music but the basketball players went to the friendship game. After music we went to buddies after buddies we had health then it was lunch. After lunch we had theme. In theme we worked on our book club responses. Then it was recess, after recess we did some writing on our island anthems and our I am a Winnipeger poems.  It was a fun day.

March 3

To start the day off we had math then gym in gym we played bench ball.  After recess we had french then we had lunch after lunch we had theme in theme we learned about matter.  Then we had theme again after recess then Miss Pattie started to read to us.


For the weekend, I have challenged the class with a tangram puzzle.  They need to find the combinations of tangrams that make up the 5 given shapes.  There are 5 that don't work, all the rest do.

I am still missing an number of March book reviews.  The April book reviews are due April 4th.

March 2

Today we did our challenge in french versing the teacher! We pretty much won because we got candy after doing the "Oh Brigitte" dance and we also played Spot It. First we had Math and we did a math game. After math, we had gym. We did a scooter bench ball game. After recess we had french. After lunch we had writing and we went back to our anthems and fixed them! We also did some poetry about Winnipeg. First we brainstormed some words about Winnipeg and then we made our poems. After recess we did agendas and now Miss Pattie is reading Masterminds.

March 1

Today we had music. We listened to songs from the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. After music, we had writing. We got in our book club groups and talked about our books. After recess we had theme. We read the words to O Canada and then made our own anthem for our islands. In the afternoon, we had writing, we read our Lake Winnipeg stories to each other in class. After recess we wrote in our agendas, and Ms Pattie read us more of the book Masterminds. It is early dismissal today!

February 29

Today was a good day. We started with problem solving we learned "guess and check". Then we had French, we worked on a rap called Oh Brigitte. After lunch we had Theme, we had a presentation about recycling and we worked on our Lake Winnipeg stories. Ms Pattie is reading Masterminds to us. Soon we are going to gym!

February 25

 Today we started off with started with music. In music we complex word work sheet. It had a lot of weird words. After that, we had a buddy period, but we didn't read with them, we helped them with their project. Then we had our morning recess. After that wonderful recess, some of us typed our lake Winnipeg story and some of us edited them. Then we had a health class, in health we had to read some story's we made our self with a word splash. Then it was lunch. After lunch,we had theme, in theme we made a cross word puzzle. Then we went straight to recess. After that, we finished the cross words and did our agenda's. So we hope you had a great day. bye!!!!!
